Post by Shaalae » Mon Jun 29, 2009 8:18 pm

i am a new member of Team Calm Chaos and i just want to say hello to you all!

a few selective words about me: i love sci-fi (Banks, Clarke, Dick, leGuin, Stapledon etc), movies (all kind), tv-series (Star Trek, Bab 5, BSG, Seinfeld) and literature and science in general. i like hiking and cooking and, of course, eating.

i am new to this boinc-business (seti@home), so i would appreciate a little help, when i'm settled here.

Hi Shaalae! Good to have you here! It's a great crew here, but just keep away from the cooking pot! (Inside joke.)

That and Labbie. He's weird. :smt005 In fact I'm the only normal one around! :smt003

Now Dune, how can a goat with braces on its teeth be anything but weird?

While I am just a skull with flaming eyes - that's pretty normal, at least around here. :smt023

But it is a good warning to stay clear of Red's stew pot. It is an extra large and seats 8 comfortably. :smt005

Welcome to the Chaos Shaalae. :smt038

We seem to be picking up those interested in Sci-Fi.

Since you are running Seti you may want to check out installing an opt. app. to speed up your processing in Boinc. We have a thread that gives some help and information on how to go about that.

Off topic. Dune you are not normal. Remember that fuzzy little rabbit? Labbie is only slightly crazy. Red is the one with the cooking pot. And me, well I'm here. I think that says enough by itself. I know I am crazy. I think that is part of the crazy Lin wanted me.

Buga should be along soon to give you your official Bugaish decoder ring (is it still a ring?). It will come in handy when you try to understand what he is talking about.

Welcome to the insane asylum. What colour straight jacket would you like? Do you want a padded or unpadded room? And finally, would you like the nurse to tie you down to the bed each night or not?

Well, since we have a TimeLord and a working TARDIS, no charge except for tipping the TimeLord (to be negotiated upon delivery).

Good to have your here Shaalae. :smt006

We are always willing to help if you ever have any questions about BOINC or Boinc Projects. Or how fast a Falcon is. LOL Basically anything. Were a nutty bunch.

Seti@Home seems to be the starter for a good portion of new users. But there are also many other Boinc Projects to look into. There are space, mathematics, human sciences, and even some game projects. You can check out or Boinc section for a list of all the projects we are connected to. With links to there hompages to check them out. There are well over 30 active projects With another handful of part time projects.

A side note since your new to Seti@Home. They do have a schdueled down time on Tuesdays. 2-8 hrs. Depending on how they fell. LOL

Also keep in mind Boinc is not perfect so projects will run into trouble at times and have downtime. So its a good idea to have a back-up project in mind just in case.

Any questions just let us know. OOOOO and the Buga Decoder ring will be a little late. We are now working on Buga DR V2. We are trying to keep the weight down. 35 pounds was a bit much for V1. Although it was neede. LMAO.

AARGH...crazy people!! ;-)

Thanks for the weird...ah warm welcome.
one question: why isn't there a Calm Chaos Team member sign under my name?

@Gavin Shaw: thx for the hint, i will check out the related topics; good to know that there are a few more sci-fi fans, so i can discuss sci-fi to get back on the ground when things are going too crazy around here ;-)

@Buga1: I am also in project MilkyWay. ok then, i have a question: what is the weight of an egg from a marmaronetta angustirostris?? ;-) just kidding

@Labbie: a TimeLord...WHO is that...?

Once you start crunching for the team (and/or Buga gets around to it) it will show up.

Welcome!

Well, my avatar should give it away that I like Sci-Fi. Shame there is hardly any on TV in Aus.

Buga can take a while to get awards posted. He has a lot of other tasks to do, but I think he holds off until you have crunched and earned credits into the team total (they still show in your personal total). Something to help keep spammers and other troublemakers out...

I will be getting that up for you right now. (CCTeam Member) and the weight would be dependent on the clutch size. LOL

I'm debating in my mind whether this is actually a legit member or a spammer. It is getting harder to tell them apart.

Considering their sig has an ad in it, I am tending towards spammer bot. The text is similar to other spam bots.

Yeah some do. They then put ads in it which is actually a violation of the terms of use of this forum. No advertising unless it is appropriate.
