What does Christmas mean to you?

Post by Enigma » Thu Dec 21, 2006 10:51 am

Its that time again...but then Christmas means a differnt things to different people, especially in this day and age.

So what does XMAS mean to you?

For me, its a time of giving or gift exchange. You can make/buy/do etc give something to someone you love and well make them happy. For me its really a time of giving.

Tell us what you think!

For me, Christmas is about meditation and quiet. Nature is quiet and has gone to sleep. So it is a good time of the year to reflect on the year just gone and that to come. For me, Christmas has a spiritual dimension, whether or not you believe that a baby was born two-thousand years ago who claimed to be God incarnate.
On a more pragmatic level, Christmas is about food and drink. This is the time of year when I do get down to some serious baking, and the only time when I probably enjoy it.

For me it used to mean spending time with my rather large family (Mom has 9 siblings).

Unfortunately Grandma decided she didn't want to host this year for some reason I'm still not entirely clear on, so it looks like I'll only be celebrating with my Mom, brother, 1 aunt and her family...about 12 people all together out of 5 generations and damn near 100 relatives.

....and of course my Dad's side of the family but thats only a total of 8 people and 2 of those are my cousin's step children.....no relation to me at all.

Anyway...we should let the thread go back to the topic.

Craig, I think I found a song that pretty well fits your idea of organized religion. Check out my last post in the Lyrics Corner. :-)

Merry Christmas to Jake and Mongo too. My wife and I agree to disagree on this holiday so all is well. By the way KM, my cats, King Tut, and Cleopatra say Merry Christnas to your 4 legged friends as well.

Glad to hear that things a back to normal for you, Craig.

Lisa is an ongoing thing. I have only been talking to her for a couple of weeks. Right now, I am content to just go see her once a week at the bar where she waitresses. I go and drink soda, and she comes over and talks to me when there is time. She told my brother ( who DJs there on weekends ) that she likes the fact that I don't seem to be in a hurry...lol

Post the lyrics man!!!! lol

Lyrics posted dude!

Well its funny, but i think when you are 'less interested' in a positive way, it acts more like a magnet! When you try too hard, you will likely fall into the desperate category (not good).

Just flex your KM charm and i'm sure it will happen. (perhaps not overnight lol).

The good thing is that I'm not looking for anything to happen overnight...lol

I am a patient guy. It also helps that she is really quite smart and absolutely gorgeous....lmao
Anyway....gotta go to work. See you all later.

I am off tomorrow and Thursday, so I will catch up with you all tomorrow.

Gonna go see Lisa on Thursday. :-)

So true Enigma. When women see you interact with them in a friendly, non-sexual way, and you don't make any moves, well that throws them out of their comfort zone and then slowly the table turns in your favor. They will eventualy come onto you..
I have seen/used this tactic many times when I was younger and still interested in American women. :smt023

Oh, I'm so glad you're getting to know the girl that you like Knightmare. It's really nice. I hope, if you can get it off the ground, that this lady will be able to give you a real sweet memory of Christmas - that is, the memory of meeting the lady of your dreams at this time of year. Isn't that what you need, a good memory of Christmas, as well as the lady herself of course?

It definitely would make for a decent memory for a change.....:-)

I definitely need the good memory...and yes, of course, getting the lady herself would be a good thing too....
